Frozen moment

~ Dean Thorpe ~

Frozen moment, captured in time

A silly face, and too much wine

A little cat, sat in the sun

A playful child, having some fun

The rise of sun, the morning glow

A winters day, with cold white snow

These are the things, I like to see

My camera, always with me

The blog has been sleeping;

translation; I have been buzy…

Laura Lush,
The First Day of Winter

“On the first day of winter, the earth awakens to the cold touch of itself. Snow knows no other recourse except this falling, this sudden letting go over the small gnomed bushes, all the emptying trees. Snow puts beauty back into the withered and malnourished, into the death-wish of nature and the deliberate way winter insists on nothing less than deference. waiting all its life, snow says, “Let me cover you.”

When it rains, it pours;

when it pours, it floods & when it floods, everything gets wet…

It doesn’t look like much, but believe me – it is.  A new moon combined with this years most heavy rainfall and the biggest tide, means trouble – big trouble. The pictures I am not so happy about eighter. Well I blame the windy weather, the rain and lack of light and the fact that I was trying to hold an umbrella to keep my camera dry.

Happy Weekend

“Think what a better world it would be if we all, the whole world, had cookies
and milk about three o’clock every afternoon and then lay down on our blankets
for a nap.”

Quote by; Barbara Jordan

I made homemade cookies. Because it gives comfort and joy and pleasure!

Recipe for 1 oven tray (about 15 cookies);

Preheat oven to 190 degrees Celcius.

Ingredients;

120 gram butter

120 gram sugar

1 egg

1/2 ts. baking powder

1 ts. vanilla sugar

250 gram plain flour

1 tbs. cocoa powder

100 gram of chocolate chips (any kind!)

On VERY low heat melt the butter, whisk it.
Add the sugar, little by little – while whisking (still heating).
Add the egg, whisk it hard than remove from the heat.

Strain the baking powder, vanilla sugar, the flour and the cocoa powder before adding it little by little to the butter mixture. After all is mixed in, than add the chocolade chips!

Use a large spoon and make cookies (they don’t have to be perfect and even – just look at mine…) on greaseproof paper cowering the tray.

Middle of the oven, 8-10 minutes. Leave on a cooling rack until cold. Crispy on the outside, soft in the middle – perfect!

Warm Memories

Autumn makes me crazy… So crazy that I have reviewed all of my pictures from last years trip to Sousse – Tunisia. I think I have about 600 of them… That is A LOT. With all of my trips to Turkey as well, I have so many summer pictures – that I should not be cold for a year or two. Unfortunately it doesn’t work that way… But pictures are lovely anyway!

Just walking in the alleys of the medina, was enough for me and my camera…

These two made me laugh!

Well, I had to go in right? Sea view AND Aladin 😉

It was true also…

Look at the light… Magical!

And the staircases looked like that… everyone of them!

Mint tea served from a traditional teapot, always a delight!

Early evening, walking by the Mediterranean sea & sitting down at a coffee & tea house…

Doesn’t get much more fresh than that!

Just the smell alone, made me hungry!

Sunrise, very early morning – look at that burning sky!

And how the sunlight touched the waves crashing into shore…

Happiness

Happiness is such a difficult term. What IS happiness? Is it having 2 children, the person that you love and a big house? Is it having the perfect career and a highly successful job? Maybe being rich makes you happier? Or having the latest in fashion clothes, cars and technical equipment? Or is it just a feeling inside your heart and soul, that can be triggered by any of the things above? I’m not sure there is an answer.

I thaught I would make a happy list. A list of things that makes me smile or makes me want to wake up everyday. So, in random order;

  1. To hear childrens laughter & see their smiles
  2. Taking my camera outside, finding new things to photograph
  3. Being inlove
  4. The sound of the sea always makes me calm and brings me pleasure
  5. A big cup of tea, after a long day
  6. Reading a nice book, in my PJ’s – all curled up in a blanket
  7. A warm and sensual kiss
  8. Cooking a nice meal, for family and friends
  9. Learning new things and meeting new people
  10. Someone saying they care about me or love me
  11. To twirl or dance with a child in my arms
  12. A hot bubble bath
  13. I always love a heartful hug
  14. Eating warm chocolate cake with soft vanilla ice cream
  15. Wearing a dress

I see myself as a happy person. Maybe because my happiness is wrapped up in small things, small pleasures that you get get anyday, just by living your day to day life? I don’t know. Are YOU happy?

Toddler Happiness by; Pauline Oliver

Happiness is two and a half
Alert and curious from
waking
Climb, discover, hide’n’seek
Adventure in the making

He’s
mastered walking, talking, feeding,
Now explores his wider world
His
curiosity surely knows no bounds
Til naptime, when in bed he’s
curled

What’s this? What does it do?
Push it, pull it, twist it
around
This button makes the lights work
This one makes the siren
sound

Chuckles of happiness and laughter
Eyes filled with wonder and
joy
Love hot enough to melt your heart
He’s my beautiful toddler
boy

Yet suddenly there’s thunder brewing
Things don’t always go his
way
He needs your help but does not want it
Terrible two’s tantrums spoil
the day!

Just as quickly it is over
A safe space and a little time
out
Then its back into the garden
To figure some more things
out

Sand and water, swing and slide
Mastering jumping on two
feet
Scoot a bike or truck around the yard
Toddler happiness is so
neat

Autumn Mood

I hate to admit it, but autumn is actually here. Day by day the air gets colder, the wind feels more chilling and the colours changes… And up north here in Norway, we are loosing daylight and the summernights with light 24/7 are once again, all gone!

Summer goes by so quickly. I have to pinch my arm to believe it, but it is happening – once again. I love wearing warm clothes, wool, hats, scarfs and mittens, but I am freezing. Always freezing. No matter how much clothes I put on, I am cold from October – May. That is a long time to be cold! I like it warm, actually I like it hot. So warm that you have to wipe your forehead from sweat and the sun feels like it can boil an egg. I must be born on the wrong side of this planet…

Today I captured the beginning of autumn, feeling a little cold – even if the sun was out.

September; by Helen Hunt Jackson

The goldenrod is yellow;
The corn is turning brown;
The trees in apple orchards
With fruit are bending down.

The gentian’s bluest fringes
Are curling in the sun;
In dusky pods the milkweed
Its hidden silk has spun.

The sedges flaunt their harvest
In every meadow-nook;
And asters by the brookside
Make asters in the brook.

From dewy lanes at morning
The grapes’ sweet odors rise;
At noon the roads all flutter
With yellow butterflies.

By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather,
And autumn’s best of cheer.
